lyvegyde was started by Mary Stevens and her brother Will Byrd as a guide to interesting live events on the internet. We think that there are a lot of fun and informative events happening online all of the time and our goal is to gather those events in one central place. We are a place to find events that you can watch as they are happening.
back to toplyvegyde was just launched and is in its alpha version right now. That means that we are working hard to add features, make improvements, and catch any bugs. Mary and Will built and operate the website by themselves and will work as hard as they can to make improvements to the site. We welcome your suggestions and ideas. Please use the contact us link if you find any bugs or if you have any comments.
back to topCreating a lyvegyde account is free! It also allows you to do do the following:
-save your favorite live, upcoming, or recent events in your own "my favorites" tab
-save events that you have submitted in your own "my submitted" tab
-flag an event as ended to let us know that the event is over
-change your default time zone
We will also be adding more features for our account holders in the future.
back to topWe will not sell your information or send you unwanted messages. If you submit an event, we may contact you if we have a question about your event.
back to topThe lyvegyde team is always gatherering events that we think look interesting. We also depend on our users to submit other events that we may have missed. Finally, we encourage event organizers to submit their events.
back to topOur goal is to be a guide to interesting live events on the internet.
Below are many of the types of events that include on our site:
major sporting events (such as games from national league sports and sports championships, playoffs, tournaments)
ceremonies (such as awards ceremonies and memorial ceremonies)
premieres (such as book release parties and red-carpet movie premiere coverage)
concerts (such as festivals, concerts, and music programs featuring live performances of well-known or up-and-coming artists)
interviews and Q&A sessions (such as radio interviews with best-selling authors and text-only, webchat Q&As with experts on a particular topic)
news events (such as court proceedings from a case with national interest or a press conference related to a national news event)
auctions (such as an auction of rare artwork or a car auction of collectible cars)
government hearings and meetings (such as meetings or hearings covering topics of national interest)
speeches and discussions (such as a round-table discussion with business leaders or an art historian at a museum's annual speaker series)
special occasion events (such as fireworks on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. or the launch of a space shuttle)
miscellaneous (such as a state university's homecoming ceremony or an informational seminar regarding employment opportunities at a well-known nonprofit)
Examples of events that we are not able to accept due to the large number of similar events include: weekly church services, highly technical training webcast aimed at selling or supporting a product, webcast of a nightly news program, streaming audio from a radio talk show without a special guest, local elementary school PTA monthly meeting, etc.
Similarly, due to the large number of personal webcasts, unfortunately, we are not able to accept listings such as streaming video from a dorm room or streaming video from a cell phone.
Here are some additional guidelines:
The event will be happening LIVE, it is not an archived video of a live event or a premiere of a video that was previously recorded.
Events should be free.
We prefer events that do not require registration, but we will try to indicate if registration is required if we know about it.
We love interactive events where viewers can submit questions.
No adult or otherwise explicit content - our website is open to all ages.
The event does not have to be a video, we are also open to screenshot webinars, text-only webchat Q&A sessions, live internet radio, and other types of similar events, as long as they fit the guidelines above.
back to topWe only require an event's website URL. The event submission form also has spaces to include optional, additional information such as event description and date and time. If this form does not provide enough options for you when you are submitting your event, please feel free to submit additional details using the contact us link.
Additionally, you may submit your email address so that we can contact you if we have any questions regarding the event. If you have a lyvegyde account, sign in prior to submitting your event, so that it will be saved to your "my submitted" tab.
back to topYour event will be submitted to the lyvegyde team, who will review the event before it is posted to the website. We will review your event as quickly as possible, and will post the event if it fits our criteria. We would love to include your event, so please review below the types of events that we accept.
back to topWe may make some editorial changes to your event submission. Also, make sure that you do not submit material copied directly from another website, as it may be protected by copyrights.
back to topTo view the live webcast, click on the link to the event on our homepage. Otherwise, click on the event name, which takes you to the detailed event page, and click on the link to the event from there. This will take you to the organization's website that is hosting the website. We do not host the webcasts on our website.
Some websites do not publish many details prior to a webcast, so you may need to click on an additional link once you are taken to the organization's website. We try to publish the specific link to the webcast when at all possible. To view the webcast, you may need to install software that is specific to that organization's webcast technology.
back to topNot all webcasts list what their ending time will be. We try to change the status of an event to ended once it has ended, but we may not always know when an event is over. If we have not marked an event that is over as ended, you may use the "end" button to notify us that the event is over. We will estimate the ending time for an event if we do not know exactly when it ended.
back to topWe do not keep archived copies of webcasts since we do not host webcasts. Once we know that an event is over, we will move it to the recently ended section of the website. If we know that the event was streamed live, and there is no archive of the video that is found easily on the sponsor's website, we will try to make a note of that. Also, if the webcast is over and is archived in a different location from the actual webcast location, we will try to make a note of that as well. There is often a lag between the time that the webcast has ended and the time that the website has posted an archived video of the event.
back to topThe "most anticipated" tab includes events that lyvegyde members have saved to their "my favorites" tab.
