The Millennium Stage at The Kennedy Center, in collaboration with Georgetown University, presents a musical celebration honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The concert will feature:

- Aretha Franklin - famous American R&B and soul singer, songwriter, and pianist - ranked by Rolling Stone in 2008 as #1 on its list of The Greatest Singers of All Time

- Nuttin' but Stringz (N.B.S.) - classically trained teenage brothers Damien and Tourie Escobar use their violins to play a combination of classical music, jazz, r&b, and hip hop

- Let Freedom Ring Celebration Choir - the choir consists mainly of Georgetown University students but also includes members from local Washington D.C. churches and was formed for a 2006 Martin Luther King Jr. celebration

- Mistress of Ceremonies Andrea Roane

- 2009 John Thompson "Legacy of a Dream" award - presented to Marian Wright Edelman, founder and president of the Children's Defense Fund

The Millennium Stage at The Kennedy Center offers free daily performances. The program includes a range of art forms, with performing artists and groups from all 50 states as well as an Artist-in-Residence program with artists performing several evenings in a month.

The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. opened in 1971. The center makes every effort to fulfill President Kennedy's vision to producing and presenting a wide array of theater and musicals, dance and ballet, orchestral, chamber, jazz, popular, and folk music, and multi-media performances.
