The Sunday Forum at the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. presents a discussion entitled "Faith and Civic Life in America" with Tavis Smiley and Cathedral Dean Sam Lloyd.

Tavis Smiley hosts The Tavis Smiley Show (Public Radio International) and PBS show, Tavis Smiley. He has written 11 books including the New York Times best-selling memoir, What I Know for Sure - My Story of Growing Up in America. Tavis Smiley is a philanthropist, advocating for young people and people of color. He also founded the Tavis Smiley Foundation to help support black youth.

Construction for the Washington National Cathedral began in 1907 at a ceremony attended by President Theodore Roosevelt. The cathedral was finished in 1990 in the presence of President H. W. Bush. It is the second largest Gothic cathedral in the United States.
