The Duke University School of Law in Durham, NC presents Professor James Boyle in "A Song's Tale: Mashups, Borrowing, and the Law." He will tell the story of a song protesting the government's response to Hurricane Katrina. The song was based on the works by Kanye West, Ray Charles, and more. Professor Boyle will discuss how the legal rules for borrowing music vary based on how the works are used and the impact of various musical cultures. He will also discuss the impact on music in the future and what we may lose in the future.
