Steven Dick, NASA historian, presents the 4th keynote address on Exploration, Discovery and Culture: NASA's Role in History at the NASA conference entitled NASA's First 50 Years: A Historical Perspective in Washington, D.C. The keynote address will examine 3 questions about NASA and the Space Age:

- If spaceflight is about exploration, how does the Space Age compare to the classical Age of Discovery during the the Renaissance?

- What are the similarities and differences between the Space Age and the Age of Discovery?

- What were the conditions for the Space Age and their impact?
