Opening keynote addresses by Michael Griffin and Dr. Howard McCurdy at the conference entitled NASA's First 50 Years: A Historical Perspective in Washington, D.C.
The opening session of the conference will examine the evolution of NASA's culture and practices, as well as debates over their effectiveness and the pressure to adopt new methodologies.
Michael Griffin, NASA Administrator, presents the first keynote address on NASA at 50. He is the 11th NASA administrator and has received a Ph.D. and 5 master's degrees in addition to his bachelor's degree. He is also a certified flight instructor.
Dr. Howard McCurdy from American University presents the second keynote address on Inside NASA at 50. Dr. McCurdy is chair and professor of public affairs at American University's public administration and policy department. He is an expert on space policy and published the study of NASA's organizational culture called Inside NASA.
