The Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. presents day one of Sacred Circles: A Celebration of Women's Spirituality.

This session includes:

Karen Armstrong - author of over 20 books on world religions and a 2008 TED prize winner with a goal for a Global Charter of Compassion

Sakena Yacoobi - education and healthcare activist for young girls and women in Afghanistan

Concert by Coral Cantigas featuring Diana Saez and Cecilia Esquivel - choral group with Latina women that combines a variety of languages

Construction for the Washington National Cathedral began in 1907 at a ceremony attended by President Theodore Roosevelt. The cathedral was finished in 1990 in the presence of President H. W. Bush. It is the second largest Gothic cathedral in the United States.
